The current version of the builder was falling short—it lacked several essential features, had an unintuitive layout, and struggled with accessibility. On top of that, many customization options were hidden, making it difficult for users to find what they needed.
Exploring New Layouts: A Process of Iteration
The redesign process began with exploring multiple layout options to address the builder's shortcomings. Below are a couple of versions that were initially considered but ultimately rejected before settling on the final layout.
One concept involved a dark mode version, which aimed to give the builder a sleek and modern feel. However, it faced issues with spacing and aspect ratio, which made it less functional in practice. While dark mode was put on hold for now, it's a feature that could be revisited in the future with some refinements.
Final Design: Improving Functionality and Accessibility
After several rounds of iteration, the final design for the builder was developed. The new layout not only improved organization, but it also made key features more accessible to users. Customization options were brought to the forefront, ensuring a smoother and more intuitive user experience. By making the builder more user-friendly and visually appealing, Matboard & More can now offer a more seamless and satisfying online shopping experience for their customers.
